CBS has trouble with city's location

People across the United States now know about a Winnipeg Transit driver's act of kindness in giving his own shoes to a homeless man -- even if they may be confused as to where Winnipeg actually is.
Transit driver Kris Doubledee and Mayor Sam Katz were guests on the CBS This Morning program produced in New York City on Saturday. Doubledee was flown down there by CBS while Katz was already in the city with a civic financial delegation.
When asked by the show's hosts if he gave his shoes to a stranger earlier this week because he sought attention, Doubledee said "no, no, no, not at all. I just wanted to finish my route and get back to Transit, unnoticed hopefully."
Doubledee got back unnoticed that day, but not for long.
Last week, Doubledee made headlines around the world when it became known he pulled his bus over and gave his own shoes off his feet to a stranger who was walking along Portage Avenue shoeless.
Two hours later, Doubledee finished his shift and walked to his car, still shoeless.
Doubledee could not be reached for comment on Saturday.
Katz told the program's hosts he is proud to be Doubledee's mayor.
"This is an act of compassion that probably raises the bar to a brand new standard," he said.
"It should make us all think about what others are going through and trying to give someone a hand up."
As Katz was speaking, text on TV screens read "Mayor Sam Katz, Winnipeg, Ontario."
Doubledee said he hasn't seen the homeless man since he gave him his shoes.
"I hope he gets the attention I get maybe directed his way so it can make his life a little easier."
