Driver dies after rural school bus crash
THE driver whose car slammed into a school bus near Neepawa Wednesday morning amid heavy fog has died.
Neepawa RCMP said Thursday night that the 50-year-old Winnipegosis woman, who was driving a Oldsmobile Alero, died as a result of the serious injuries she suffered.
At the request of her family, she is not being identified.
RCMP said the bus had been travelling east along a gravel road.
It stopped at a stop sign and then crossed the road when it was hit by the Alero, which was travelling north on Highway 5.
Thirteen children were on the bus and were not injured, but were taken to Neepawa hospital as a precaution. The man driving the bus was also not hurt.
RCMP say the investigation continues.
