Drug traffickers may face licence suspension
Attorney-General Andrew Swan said Monday details of the proposed law will be released when the bill is tabled, but already the Progressive Conservative opposition say it won't go far enough.
Tory justice critic Kelvin Goertzen said the bill, to amend the province's Highway Traffic Act, should also include seizing a drug trafficker's vehicle.
"I think there's more of a point to be made when you can take assets away from individuals," he said.
Last session, Goertzen introduced a bill that would suspend the driver's license and seize the vehicles of drug dealers. It was rejected.
"At the end of the day I'm disappointed that the government continues to stall and to steal bills for simple, petty political reasons," Goertzen told reporters.
The proposed legislation would give police another tool to go after known drug dealers--if they're caught driving while suspended they can be charged, plus it could give police a reason to search their vehicle.

"Drug dealers typically don't have licenses to begin with..."
AND they certainly DO NOT have any brains, or respect & consideration for themselves and others, the list goes on & on!
However, these laws need to go much further to ensure the safety of our families & communities.
I would highly suggest that the law gives officers the rights to seize driver's licenses, vehicles, homes, passports, businesses, cottages, and whatever else they own, publish names & photos of these criminals, no matter what age they are, and make these idiots pay back thier ill-gotten dollars into a victims of crime fund; for starters!

More nipping around the edges. Will we ever have the will and wisdom to legalize and regulate these substances and thus cut to the root of the problem? No. Two reasons: it's extremely profitable for some to continue the enforcement route, and our drug laws are actually made in the USA.

Isn't this just brilliant. Drug dealers typically don't have licenses to begin with. Our elected officials are so out of touch. If they want to make a difference allow the police to seize the vehicles and auction them off put that towards the damn helicopter. We want to slow down dug dealing? Let's seize the cabs that drive this [edited] around to nake their deals!
