Free Press staff members win six awards

WINNIPEG Free Press reporters and photographers won six Canadian Farm Writers and Broadcasters awards Saturday night at the Fort Garry Hotel.

Four of the six awards were for features and stories about the Canadian Wheat Board's fight for its life with the federal government.

Bill Redekop won gold in the Press Feature category for a story titled The man who killed the family farm.

For the second year in a row, Free Press reporters swept the medals in the Daily Press Reporting category. Mia Rabson won gold, Larry Kusch won silver and Murray McNeill won bronze for articles they wrote about the CWB.

Photographer Joe Bryksa won silver for News Photography and bronze for Feature Photo.
