A man is expected to recover from gunshot wounds after shots rang out in the core area as the evening rush hour was winding down Friday.
Police reported Saturday they're still piecing together what happened after receiving a 911 report shots could be heard from the 600 block of Portage Avenue near Maryland Street.
That call came in about 6:15 p.m.
Approximately 20 minutes later, police were called to interview a young man with gunshot wounds to his lower body. He'd made his own way to Health Sciences Centre, a few blocks away, police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said.
"He's not co-operating with police," Mchalyshen said of the victim. "We're investigating the possibility the incidents are linked."
