Thrown from motorcycle, woman dies

A 20-YEAR-OLD Winnipeg woman was killed after being thrown from a motorcycle Sunday, Selkirk RCMP report.

The driver, 26, was in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An RCMP collision expert assisted officers at the scene and a preliminary investigation indicated speed, but not alcohol, was a factor in the collision.

One helmet was found at the scene but it's not known who was wearing it at the time of the crash, RCMP said.

The motorcycle had turned a corner and hit a parked car at Lyall Drive and River Road in RM of St. Andrews. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Charge laid in armed bank robbery

POLICE have identified and charged a 26-year-old woman in connection with an armed bank robbery that happened Thursday.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police were called to a bank in the 500 block of Main Street after reports of a robbery.

A lone woman had entered the bank and waited in line, then proceeded to demand money from the bank teller while indicating she had a gun. No gun was seen.

The woman obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.

On Saturday around 11 p.m., police found and arrested a suspect. Destinee Stranger, 26, was charged with armed robbery using a firearm. She remains in custody.
