Raid nets gun, drugs

TWO men are facing charges after Winnipeg police raided a home on New Year's Eve and seized cocaine, a semi-automatic handgun and body armour.

Jesse Carl McMillan, 26, and a 52-year-old male were charged with several drug and firearm-related offences, including possession of property obtained through crime.

The tactical support team raided a residence in the 700 block of David Street in St. James-Assiniboia, police said in a news release.

The two men inside the residence were taken into custody without resistance.

McMillan was detained at the remand centre and the 52-year-old male was released on a promise to appear.

 

Three teens charged

THREE teens face charges after police responded to reports of a male armed with a weapon early Tuesday.

A 19-year-old man and two 17-year-old males, all from Winnipeg, were charged with several offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, following an incident at a downtown party .

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, Winnipeg police responded to a report of an armed man on the 700 block of Beverley Street.

Two fleeing suspects were apprehended by police, along with a firearm. There were no injuries and no shots fired.

 

Truck hits walkers

AN 18-year-old female is in hospital in critical condition and two others were injured after being hit by a truck on New Year's Eve.

Tuesday evening, RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a collision between a 1997 Toyota Tacoma and three pedestrians in Reinfeld, a small town east of Winkler.

Carman RCMP say the truck was travelling south on Reinfeld Street South when it struck the male and two females walking on the roadway.
