Prof. Kim Clare, the longtime director of the University of Manitoba inner-city social work program, has died.
Clare died Feb. 18 of cancer, the U of M reported on its website.
"The loss for the profession of social work, the faculty of social work at U of M, the wider university community, and particularly Winnipeg's aboriginal and North End communities, is immeasurable," said a university official. Clare was named director of the inner-city program at the William Norrie Centre on Selkirk Avenue in 1993.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Meadowood United Church at 1111 Dakota St.
