Liberals talk flooding

THE Liberals have made the first flood announcement of the provincial election campaign, promising $20 million to protect farmers and cottage owners.

Leader Jon Gerrard, who met with residents of Brandon and Portage la Prairie to talk about water management Saturday, said his party would expand dam systems used along South Tobacco Creek about 150 kilometres south of Winnipeg, provide support for wetlands on farmland and commit to a zero net-loss of wetlands in Manitoba.

"The NDP's failure on water management hurts our economy every year. This affects everyone in this province."
