The May long weekend, a.k.a. Victoria Day, is the unofficial kickoff to summer in Manitoba.
Here is a look at what’s open and closed in the city.
Most malls are open Victoria Day.
Kildonan Place — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grant Park — 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Polo Park — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
St. Vital Centre — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Forks Market is open regular hours, from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Victoria Day.
Most Manitoba Liquor Mart stores will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For details on exceptions and rural Liquor Mart hours, visit www.liquormarts.ca.
Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so the best way to find out if one will be open Monday is to call.
The Assiniboine Park Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend.
The Manitoba Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend.
The Children’s Museum is open regular hours Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Winnipeg Art Gallery, normally closed Mondays, will remain open Victoria Day.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend.
Movie theatres are open the entire long weekend.

Civic, provincial and federal offices are closed Monday.
The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed. The Winnipeg Animal Services Agency keeps regular hours Saturday and Sunday but is closed Monday.
There is no mail delivery Monday. Canada Post offices will be closed, but post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
Recycling, garbage and yard waste will be collected as normally scheduled on Victoria Day for those with Monday as their collection day.
The Brady Road landfill is open regular hours Saturday and Sunday and closed Monday. The recycling depot will be accessible, though.
On Monday, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule. For route and schedule information, visit Winnipeg Transit or contact 311.
All Leisure Centres are closed Monday, but regular hours of operation are in effect Saturday and Sunday.
All City of Winnipeg swimming pools will be closed Monday except the Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.
The Pan Am Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Cindy Klassen complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Regular hours of operation are in effect for all pools Saturday and Sunday.
All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed Monday.
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital, and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. over the long weekend, including Victoria Day, but cemetery offices will be closed Monday.
Crescent Drive, Harbour View, John Blumberg, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park Golf Courses will be open all weekend, including Monday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
