Man, 21, charged with stabbing in North End

A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a stabbing on Flora Avenue early Sunday.

The altercation occurred around 1:55 a.m. and was witnessed by patrolling police, who saw two men fighting on the street near the 300 block of Flora.

One of the men ran away and was later apprehended on Selkirk Avenue. The man who remained at the scene was treated for stab wounds. He was in stable condition in hospital Sunday.

An argument began at a party at the residence and escalated when a man assaulted two females. A 39-year-old man intervened and the fight ensued, police said.

The 21-year-old, Steven Pangman, was also charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of assault.

Woman stabbed during robbery

POLICE are on the lookout for two suspects in a robbery near Alfred Avenue and Powers Street early Sunday.

At 3:30 a.m., two women were confronted by two men and one of the women was robbed of her purse and stabbed, police said.

Her injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspects are described as aboriginal in appearance, both about 5-8. One has a skinny build, the other wore dark clothing.

Man dies in Marchand rollover

A fatal single-vehicle car crash near Marchand on Saturday night left one man dead and two passengers with serious injuries.

Steinbach RCMP said a Chevrolet Monte Carlo was travelling west on Highway 210 when it lost control, rolling several times.

The driver was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene at about 9:30 p.m.

Police wouldn't name the deceased, pending notification of family members.

Two other adult passengers sustained serious injuries, but were in stable condition in hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.

Gimli man, 50, found dead

AN autopsy is scheduled this morning for a 50-year-old man found dead in his Gimli residence, RCMP reported Sunday.

The man was found deceased at 3 p.m. Saturday after police received a 911 call.

RCMP said no other details would be released until after an autopsy is performed.
