Man, 41, missing on Split Lake

RCMP and civilians are searching for a boater missing since Tuesday night on Split Lake.

Thompson RCMP said Friday they received a report on Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m., that the boat of a 41-year-old man from York Landing had been found empty and running in circles around 8:30 p.m., 15 minutes after he left Split Lake heading to York Landing.

RCMP said the boat had damage that appeared to be caused by striking a reef.

Witnesses said the man was not wearing a life jacket.

Mounties, an RCMP service dog and members of the RCMP underwater recovery team, as well as community members from both York Landing and Split Lake are helping to search for the man.
