Man stable after stabbing
A man is in stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in a Main Street hotel Friday.
Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said a 38-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but is now in stable but guarded condition.
Michalyshen said the man and a woman were together at a hotel in the 600 block of Main Street when a fight broke out and the man was stabbed about 9:10 p.m.
Police found the woman in the hotel and arrested her 25 minutes later.
Sherri Mamakeesic, 40, has been charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with her bail conditions. She has been detained in custody.
Woman attacked with bear spray twice in one night
THREE teenagers were injured by bear spray in separate incidents in the West End on Friday night, including one victim who was shot at twice.
Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said an 18-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were walking near Ellice Avenue and Banning Street when three suspects came up to them and sprayed bear spray at the man.
The victim went to the Health Sciences Centre for treatment.
Michalyshen said later, at about 9 p.m., the same woman was walking with a 16-year-old male youth near Notre Dame Avenue and Pearl Street when the same three suspects approached them and shot more bear spray at them. The two teenagers were injured in the attack.
Police were called and were able to arrest all three suspects.
Michalyshen said police don't know if the suspects followed the victims to the hospital after the first incident.
A 21-year-old man, 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman are facing several charges including assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
Police continue to investigate.
