are the managing partners of a new Liberty Tax franchise opening on Feb. 1 at 194 Osborne St. Tovpa has a BA from the University of Winnipeg and is a certified tax preparer. Bustillo is a commerce graduate from the University of Manitoba with a bookkeeping certification from the Institute of Professional Bookkeepers of Canada.

has been reappointed for a three-year term as director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at St Boniface General Hospital and within the University of Manitoba, after which he will focus on research as director of the Pathophysiology Laboratory at St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre.

director of marketing and professional development with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS), has been appointed regional vice-chairman for North America of the Lex Mundi marketing committee. Lex Mundi is an association of independent law firms representing 160 member firms from every province and U.S. state and 100 other countries. TDS is a founding member and the exclusive member firm for Manitoba.
John Wallis
has moved into the newly created role of director of continuous improvement responsible for the Lean Initiative program at the TransX Group of Companies. The initiative is part of an organization-wide continuous improvement program.
Adam Speirs
has joined the account services team at McKim Cringan George. He holds a business degree from Miami University in Ohio and has spent the past nine years as a professional golfer. Speirs will be applying the international and business relations experience he gained in pro golf to his role at MCG.
Jeff Penner
has been appointed principal at Stantec Architecture Ltd. Penner leads Stantec's sports studio out of the Winnipeg office as well as continuing to develop his portfolio within the health-care and corporate sectors.

a designer at Stantec Architecture Ltd., has been appointed associate at the company.
COMPANIES
Hilderman Thomas Frank Cram
announced the appointments of Constantina Douvris, CSLA, and Christopher Werner as associates. Douvris holds a masters of landscape architecture degree from the University of Manitoba, with experience in Ottawa, Minneapolis and Winnipeg. Werner has been with HTFC since 2003, providing community and natural resource management planning and GIS mapping expertise for complex natural and cultural regional sites in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.
Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch
has announced new staff appointments: Charlene Pedersen is the new manager of fund development and Tony Zerucha is the new manager of public affairs.

announces the following appointments to its management team: Rod Harder as chief financial officer, responsible for the organization's financial matters and information technology systems; and Darcy Ballance as director, sales and distribution, responsible for the organization's sales, distribution and business development strategies.
New Media Manitoba
welcomes Sarah Zaharia as market access officer. She brings expertise in the foreign trade to help Manitoba interactive digital media companies take their products to international markets. Zaharia spent the last few years as a commercial trade officer and business development consultant for Agence Nationale et Internationale du Manitoba (ANIM) and was integral in organizing ANIM's Centrallia events.
Tower Engineering Group
has named three employees as associates. David Poole has led Tower's project management department for the last four years. Karl Truderung, who has has been with Tower since 2010, has developed and grown the precast department into the leading precast design team in Western Canada. Lorna Nazar manages all financial and administrative duties.

Suzanne Harrison
director of strategy, planning and analysis at MTS Allstream, will be presented with a 2012 Canadian Women in Communications Leadership Excellence Award at an awards dinner April 16 in Ottawa. CWC is a national organization that champions women's advancement in Canada's communications and technology sector and honours their achievements.
Mike Boileau
is the winner of the Certified Management Consultants' Audience Choice Award at WinnOvation 2012, held in Winnipeg Jan. 18. Boileau and his company, MCB Ingenuity, won the award for his presentation on his new filter that is better at trapping pharma byproduct from liquids.
