Many ways to get fall leisure going
THE city is trying to take stress out of registering for fall leisure programs.
Registration for the fall Leisure Guide programs takes place this week in two parts. Swimming lesson registration begins at 9 a.m. today and registration for all other programs starts Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The city is advising people who book online get a login ID and PIN number prior to the 9 a.m. start time to speed up the process.
There are three ways to register for programs: online at Winnipeg.ca/leisureonline, by phone at 311 (toll free outside Winnipeg at 1-877-311-4974) or in person at two main registration centres and five other locations throughout the city.
The two main registration centres are at Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex (999 Sargent Ave.) and Louis Riel Library (1168 Dakota St.). Each location will have six service desks to process registrations with doors opening at 7 a.m. at both sites for customers to receive queue numbers for the order in which they will be processed.
The other five locations -- Pam Am Pool, St. James Civic Centre, North Centennial Recreation & Leisure Facility, Seven Oaks Pool and Transcona Centennial Pool -- will open at 9 a.m. An alternate entrance will be used at Pam Am Pool due to construction.
The city said Monday it is expecting a high call volume this week for its 311 information line due to Leisure Guide queries. Residents are encouraged to use other methods of contacting 311 if they are looking for information other than Leisure Guide programming, including:
-- Emailing 311@winnipeg.ca for non-emergent requests for information or services other than Leisure Guide registration, and
-- Using 311 Online at http://www.winnipeg.ca/interhom/contact/default2.stm.
