TWO men were mugged for their smartphones on a St. Boniface street.
Police were looking for four suspects after the 1:30 a.m. robbery Saturday in the 200 block of Provencher Boulevard.
The two men were confronted by a group of four other men who were armed.
Police did not say what weapons the suspects carried. They took the pair's cellular phones but no injuries were reported.
Police called out the canine unit and the helicopter along with foot-patrol officers to track the suspects, but no arrests were reported Saturday.
Critical after core stabbing
WINNIPEG police reported they were investigating a stabbing Saturday in the inner city that left one man in critical condition.
Police were on the scene of the crime since just before midnight Friday after they were called to the 500 block of Home Street about 11:40 p.m.
By Saturday morning, investigators were satisfied the stabbing was the result of a fight that took place at the address among people who all knew each other. Major crimes investigators were still conducting interviews Saturday, police said in a statement.
Stabbing in Point Douglas
INVESTIGATORS were in Point Douglas Saturday morning after police were called to the scene of a second stabbing. The victim was a 48-year-old man, reported injured in a confrontation just after 3 a.m.
He was listed in stable condition by Saturday morning.
Investigators say it appeared the man was confronted by unknown suspects in the area of Austin Street North and Euclid Avenue and assaulted.

Grow-op bust in West Kildonan
A 61-year-old woman faces drug charges after police busted a marijuana grow-op in West Kildonan. Police seized 631 pot plants, estimated to be worth $706,720.00 along with four pounds of dry packaged weed, worth another $ 100,000 and grow-operation equipment in the neighbourhood of $25,000.
The raid, under a drug search warrant, was carried out Friday at 10 a.m. at a house in the 100 block of Attache Drive, a quiet side street between Leila and Templeton avenues off McGregor Street.
Crash blocks Henderson
NORTHBOUND Henderson Highway was closed to traffic through East Kildonan Saturday, police advised.
Police blocked northbound Henderson Highway between Roberta and Leighton Avenue after a crash that sent two people to hospital and knocked down a light standard.
Winnipeg police have been on the scene of the two-car collision since just before 8 a.m.
They say drivers should avoid the route Saturday morning.
Both people reported injured were listed in stable condition, police said Saturday morning.
