Military drills outside city over weekend

IF you see armed soldiers around the Winnipeg Floodway and Birds Hill areas this weekend, don't worry -- you're not under attack.

The Canadian Armed Forces announced on Friday the 38 Canadian Brigade Group's Winnipeg Infantry Tactical Group, with members of both the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, will be participating in Exercise Igloo Patrol this weekend.

The exercise, which began on Friday and runs through to Sunday, will see the soldiers getting basic winter warfare training.

The public is assured that no ammunition or pyrotechnics are being used.
