Garth Smorang Q.C.

has been appointed board chair of the Manitoba Law Foundation. The foundation provides grants to law- and justice-related programs, and has granted over $66 million in funding to the community over its 25-year history. Smorang is a partner with Myers Weinberg L.L.P. and is also on the board of the Winnipeg Airports Authority.

has elected its 2012-13 board: Lucy Yamashita, president; Art Miki, 1st vice-president; Kelly Koga, 2nd vice-president; Aki Sugikami, 3rd vice-president; Gail Cumming, secretary; Marlene Mori, treasurer. Others elected: Takahiro Fujiwara, Gaia Hashimoto, Henry Kojima, Ken Matsukubo and Marli Sakiyama.
