NDP hangs on to Kirkfield Park

A judicial recount has confirmed an election-night victory by the Manitoba New Democrats in the Kirkfield Park constituency.

The recount Wednesday gave the NDP's Sharon Blady 21 more votes than Progressive Conservative Kelly de Groot. That's five votes fewer than the election-night count Oct. 4.

The result means the NDP maintains a strong majority in the legislature, with 37 of the 57 seats.

The Tories have 19 seats and the Liberals have one.

The only other seat to undergo a recount, St. Norbert, also remained under the New Democrats earlier this week.
