Order of Canada for Buhler

MANITOBA businessman and philanthropist John Buhler will receive his Order of Canada at a ceremony Friday at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Buhler, who entered the farm-machinery business in 1969, formed Buhler Industries in 1994 and bought Canada's last remaining tractor-manufacturing plant, Buhler Versatile, in 2000, will be among 43 others who will be inducted into the Order of Canada on Friday at 10:30 p.m.

As a philanthropist, Buhler, 78, has been a major donor to numerous Manitoba museums, including the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and a number of hospitals, including Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg.
