Got any ideas for projects that would make more women prosperous? The federal government says it wants to fund them.
Status of Women Minister Dr. Kellie Leitch put out a call for proposals Friday at a press conference at the Women's Enterprise Centre of Manitoba.
Leitch said funding is available for projects that address the "unique challenges" women face and which "remove barriers."
"It's for projects that provide opportunities for women and girls so they can reach their full potential," said Leitch, who said she put herself through medical school running her own moving company.
The deadline for "Increasing Economic Prosperity for Women" proposals is Oct. 17.
Legally-constituted organizations are invited to apply -- including not-for-profit organizations but excluding labour unions.
Aboriginal governments, including band councils and their agencies in rural and remote areas, are also invited to pitch a proposal.
