Petition to stop goose-nest raids

A petition is circulating in Winnipeg to stop a group that's collecting Canada goose eggs to help reduce collisions between the birds and vehicles.

The Urban Goose Working Group hopes to lessen the chance of birds being struck along the city's Kenaston Boulevard by taking eggs from their nests.

But Marianne Curtis says she would prefer to see signs telling vehicles to slow down, or culverts to allow the geese to go under the road.

Curtis has so far collected more than 1,400 signatures on the petition, which is running on Change.org.
