Sisters rock for Lou Gehrig's disease
The Sisters of the Holy Rock will be rocking next month for the ALS Society of Manitoba. The concert is being held at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave., on Jan. 12. The Children's Wish Foundation, Manitoba and Nunavut chapter, is holding its fourth annual Shiver Ball Gala at the Delta Hotel on March 1. The event will feature entertainment, live and silent auctions and a snowflake raffle where you could win a piece of jewelry or a trip for two to Florida. Burpee, musicians help grant wishes
Virgin 103 radio host Ace Burpee is hosting the Urban Rhapsody charity concert on Feb. 3. The event is a hip-hop and R & B charity concert with some of the city's most talented performers. Down syndrome conference coming
The Canadian Down Syndrome Society is holding its 26th national conference in Winnipeg from May 17 to 19 at the Delta Winnipeg. Keynote speaker is actor Lauren Potter, an adult with DS, who plays the recurring role of Becky Jackson in the TV show Glee. Early-bird registration before April 15 for members is $225, non-members $275, and an adult with Down syndrome is $100. There will also be a dinner and dance for an extra charge. Fundraiser for women's centre
A Fab Fem Fundraiser is being held by the Fort Garry Women's Resource Centre on Feb. 20. The event, which also celebrates the centre's 30th anniversary, is being held at the West End Cultural Centre and will feature local entertainment, a silent auction and food. Lite Up A Life for ALS
There is still time to Lite Up A Life in support of the Brummitt-Feasby ALS House. The society held a Christmas lighting ceremony at the house Dec. 12, but people can still help light up the lights until Jan. 31.
