Repair-shop raid nets meth

AN autobody repair shop on Logan Avenue in Winnipeg was raided by the RCMP drug unit Wednesday morning, where six ounces of methamphetamine, cash and drug paraphernalia were seized.

RCMP said the raid happened just before 8 a.m. in the 1900 block of Logan.

The street value of the crystal meth is estimated at $60,000.

Pietro Aurelio Manfredi, 53, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking of a controlled substance and breach of an undertaking. Manfredi remains in custody.

The investigation is continuing.

Woman killed in accident

A 67-year-old Cross Lake woman died when she was thrown from her vehicle during a single-vehicle accident Wednesday. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. on Highway 374 near Cross Lake when the unidentified woman's 2007 Chevrolet station wagon left the road and rolled at least once.

Cross Lake RCMP and local emergency services workers found the woman outside her vehicle and transported her to the Cross Lake Nursing Station where she was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved, but police continue to investigate.

Cross Lake is located about 120 kilometres south of Thompson.

Robbers hit Osborne store

WINNIPEG police are looking for two men who robbed an Osborne Street convenience store early Wednesday morning.

At about 3:30 a.m., two men entered the store in the 500 block of Osborne Street and confronted the two employees. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cigarettes.

The first suspect is described as a male with light skin colour, about 5-8 to 5-9 tall. The second suspect is described as aboriginal in appearance, about 5-6 to 5-7 tall, weighing about 220 pounds with a chubby build.

Two charged in coke bust

TWO women in God's Lake Narrows were charged Wednesday following a seizure of a small amount of cocaine.

RCMP said officers executed a search warrant in a residence and found 85 flaps of cocaine -- cocaine placed in small packages -- with an estimated street value of $4,500. Police also seized $80 in cash.

Stephanie Paton, 24, of Winnipeg, and Melissa Okemow, 30, of God's Lake Narrows, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Paton is being held in custody. Okemow was released pending a court appearance in October.
