Indecent-act suspect photographed
WINNIPEG police have released a photo of a man they suspect committed an indecent act in the River Heights neighbourhood in July.
Police said the incident happened in the early evening of July 6. They said a woman observed a man on a bike in the Grosvenor Avenue area around 9:30 p.m. exposing himself while performing an indecent act. The photo of the suspect was taken by the victim.
The suspect is described as white, in his mid-30s, tall, with long, reddish hair in a pony tail, trimmed beard, wearing a brown jacket with a dark hood, dark sunglasses and blue jeans. He was riding a dark-coloured mountain bike.
Anyone with information about this is asked to call 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
Sketch released by police of woman whose body was pulled from the Red River.
Dead woman's identity sought
WINNIPEG police are renewing efforts to identify a woman whose body was pulled from the Red River three months ago.
Police released a forensic sketch of the woman, along with photos of jewelry she had been wearing when pulled from the river June 15 just south of the north Perimeter Highway bridge.
Const. Jason Michalyshen said the drawing is a facial reconstruction, not an exact likeness. She is believed to have been between 35 and 50 years old, about 5-5, with a slim build. She may have worn dentures.
"When we do locate a deceased person, usually we can identify relatively quickly," Michalyshen said. "From time to time, we're faced with some challenges... That certainly appears to be the case here."
Woman charged in North End fires
A 23-year-old woman is in custody and charged with multiple counts of arson after early morning fires in the North End on Monday and Tuesday.
Winnipeg police said there were three fires Monday morning and two more Tuesday morning.
Minutes after the last fire Tuesday in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue, patrol officers made a spot check of a person nearby on Manitoba Avenue, which led to her arrest.
Crystal Shannon Beardy, 23, has been charged with five counts of arson and possession of incendiary material.
