A 48-year-old suspect is facing close to a dozen charges following a string of house break-ins and thefts in the city over the last five weeks.
Winnipeg police said the charges stem from a series of incidents that culminated early Tuesday morning with a break-in at a home on Seven Oaks Place in which a large quantity of property was taken while the residents were asleep, including a vehicle.
A short time later a man was seen driving in the area of Crystal Avenue and St. Thomas Road. Police responded and arrested a suspect following a brief chase on foot.
As a result of a further investigation, the suspect was also charged in connection with seven other incidents between April 24 and May 21 involving home break-ins or theft of property.
Kerry Cousineau is facing a total of 11 charges.
He remains in custody and the police investigation continues.
