A man has been arrested after Winnipeg police found more than $650,000 worth of marijuana plants during a raid of a home in Southdale on Tuesday.

Winnipeg police said on Wednesday members of the service's green team and tactical support team executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Collingwood Crescent.

Police said they found 582 marijuana plants worth a street value of more than $651,000, as well as grow-operation equipment worth $15,000 and 157 grams of dried marijuana with a street value of more than $1,500.

A 48-year-old man was arrested inside the home.

He is facing charges including producing a controlled substance and possessing a substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said the man was released on a promise to appear in court.
