Pride headliners announced

The Pride Winnipeg Festival announced Sunday two headliners for this year's week-long event.

American dance-pop sensation Ultra Naté and Canadian chart-topper Kristina Maria will be taking to the stage at the 2013 Pride Winnipeg Festival. Festival events take place from May 24 to June 2 throughout the city.

"After 25 years we need to start delivering more to the people of Winnipeg and that's why we secured two major headliners this year," Pride Winnipeg president Jonathan Niemczak said in a prepared statement issued Sunday. The festival and concert will also feature local talent including country singer Jerry Sereda, Womyn of Pride, and Lost Weekend.

"Our festival is one of the largest LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered) celebrations between Toronto and Vancouver, and as it continues to grow so does our offering," Niemczak said.

Pride Day, June 2, includes the traditional rally at the Legislative Building, the Pride Parade through downtown, the festival and concert at the Forks and the official Pride dance party.
