Random acts of kindness
'Birthday present' likely saved my life
I was crossing Henderson Highway at the crosswalk across from Northdale Shopping Centre early the morning of my 57th birthday.
There was no traffic that I could see northbound except an out-of-service city transit bus in the curb lane. The driver was very near the crosswalk so I was planning to wait for him to pass, but he stopped to let me cross.
I pressed the button to activate the flashing lights and stepped off the curb. As I was just about to walk past the bus, the driver honked several times which made me look up just in time to see a car passing through the crosswalk right in front of me. In just one more nanosecond, had I kept walking, that car surely would have hit me.
I don't know who you are, Mr. Alert Bus Driver, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving me from impending harm and quite possibly saving my life.
Yours was the best birthday gift I got that day! Bless you.

Kind nurse to rescue
I headed out for a bike ride in the Fort Garry area. When I made a sharp turn, my front wheel skidded on loose gravel, bringing my bike and me crashing to the ground.
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, I immediately got back on my bike and pedaled away, I looked down and noticed my leg bleeding and my elbow was beginning to throb. When I got off my bike to check my leg, a lady approaching me. She had seen my accident and followed me to make sure I was OK.
The best news of all: she was a nurse!
After examining my scrapes, she had me follow her to her car, where she had first aid supplies. She proceeded to clean my wounds and expertly applied bandages. We ended our encounter with big hugs, but we forgot to exchange names. Every time I am out on my bike, I remember this kind stranger.
I want to thank her for taking such good care of me.

Thank you, Stu
I was walking along Nassau Street on my way home, when I suddenly felt very ill.
I could not walk and felt as though I was going to faint. The only thing I could hang onto for support was the marker by the fire hydrant. It was not very sturdy, but it kept me on my feet.
I don't know how long I was hanging on there, but finally a man stopped his car and came to my rescue. He asked if I wanted to go to the hospital or to my family.
It was not too far from where I live so I said, "Home, please." He walked me to his car, drove me home and made sure I got in safely.
This kind gentleman's name is Stu Nicol.
Thank you so much, Stu Nicol.

Took time to return wallet
Our 20-year-old daughter lost her wallet. There was no money in it, but of course it contained all her identification, her bank card, and some gift cards. She resigned herself to having to replace all the lost items.
But then, a young man rang our doorbell and asked for our daughter. When we said she was not home, he said, "I found her wallet."
Everything was intact. The young man, Terence Smoke, indicated he found her wallet at his place of work -- the Crazy Horse Gas Bar on Dakota Tipi First Nation.
We'd like to publicly thank Terence for his kindness and for taking the time to bring our daughter's wallet back. His thoughtfulness made our day.

Drive-thru thoughtfulness
To the gentleman in the Black Tacoma, who was in the drive thru ahead of me at the Reenders McDonalds at 7:30 on a recent Saturday morning. Thank you for buying my breakfast!
Your unexpected and kind gesture absolutely made my day. I will be paying it forward the next time I am at a drive thru. Thank you.
