Rapid transit road work to begin Monday

TRAFFIC through Osborne Village will be disrupted over the next two months as the City of Winnipeg prepares roadways for the rapid transit corridor.

The city announced that beginning Monday morning work will begin on Donald Street, from Osborne Street to Wardlaw Avenue, and on Stradbrook Avenue, between Donald and Main Street.

"It is a traffic upgrade, a transit upgrade, and a good step forward in advancing an integrated transportation strategy for the City of Winnipeg," Glen Laubenstein, Winnipeg's CAO, said in a news release.

The city states the work will improve the affected roadways and provide sufficient space for the rapid transit corridor.

Two southbound lanes on Donald will remain open at all times during construction.
