LIGHTNING might not strike the same place twice, but for Carlos Labao the Winnipeg Jets' 50-50 draw does.
Labao was the lucky winner of the 50-50 draw at the Feb. 12 game, pocketing a cool $39,439.50.
Then, this past Thursday, Labao's number came up again.
"My friend and I were joking the whole game it would be crazy if I won it a second time," Labao said, shortly before going to Saturday's Jets game.
"We were saying what we'd do with the money. I almost stopped breathing and had to hold my chest when my number came up again.
Labao's second win was worth $40,970.
Labao, who owns a renovation business, said he has already spent the proceeds from his first win to pay off some debts.
He said the pot from his second win will go to clean off his remaining debt and help pay his daughter's university tuition.
"She is going into the medical field," Labao said.
"I've told her when she becomes a doctor she can look after her father for free."
Labao said after this second win other spectators near him at the game tried to get some of his luck to rub off on them.
"I don't know how many people came up to me and rubbed me for luck," he said.
"And my friend who I go to the games with said he wants to buy half of my 50-50 ticket at the next game."
