Snowmobiler killed while helping another
RCMP continued to investigate last night after a fatal snowmobile collision Monday afternoon along the Trans-Canada Highway.
Kevin Wadham, 50, of the RM of Wallace, was killed after getting off his snowmobile to help another who was stuck. Shortly after 2 p.m. Wadham was struck by another snowmobile, just two kilometres west of Virden.
Wadham was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Wadham's sister was not surprised her brother stopped to help out a fellow snowmobiler.
"Kevin would help anybody out, that was just the type of guy he was," Patti Hole said. "He will be greatly missed -- unbelievably missed."
Wadham owns a cattle farm and business in the RM of Wallace. He leaves behind his wife Candice and the couple's two children.
Hole said Wadham always made sure the people closest to him were taken care of.
There were no other injuries.
RCMP Cpl. Miles Hiebert said it was too early to know if visibility and snowy conditions in the area played a role in the collision.
This is not the first snowmobile death in Manitoba this year. Chris Arns, a highly regarded paramedic in Ashern, was killed Jan. 17 when his snowmobile hit a tree.
