Southbound Disraeli over Red closing

THE two southbound lanes of the Disraeli Bridge over the Red River will be closed this weekend to allow concrete to be poured on the new bridge, the city said Wednesday.

Suggested alternate routes in the immediate area for southbound traffic are Hespeler Avenue and the Redwood Bridge toward Main Street, or Johnson Avenue West, Levis Street, Stadacona Street and the Louise Bridge toward Higgins Avenue.

The adjacent sidewalk will remain closed; pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of the bridge.

For transit rerouting, go to www.winnipegtransit.com .

Construction hours will be extended in order to minimize the disruption by completing the work over one weekend.

New bridges will replace the 50-year-old structures that span the Red River and the Canadian Pacific Railway main line.
