THE University of Winnipeg's Institute of Urban Studies will launch the Dr. Earl A. Levin Archive this afternoon.

The archives consists of more than 70 speeches and original articles on a wide range of planning topics, planning reports, extensive newspaper and magazine clippings.

The launch takes place with a reception at 1 p.m. at Menno Simons College, 520 Portage Ave.

Levin had a distinguished and influential career in city planning. As a consultant and public sector planner, Levin was involved in some of Winnipeg's most important planning processes, including Neeginan and the Core Area Initiative, U of W officials said.

New members sought

THE University of Winnipeg Alumni Association is seeking three new council members by April 15.

The association is a non-profit organization that supports U of W's goals and promotes affiliation among graduates.

Members will be appointed for a term of three years, beginning in June. For more information and to download an application form visit:

3 going to science fair

THREE students earned trips to the Canada-wide science fair at the recent Western Manitoba schools science fair.

Paige Friesen and Charlee McLaughlin-Ventnor of Kirkcaldy Heights School teamed up to take top prize in the best in fair category. Also winning a trip to the national science fair was runner-up Emily Campbell of Christian Heritage School.

Dentistry symposium

As part of its 2008 Golden Anniversary year, University of Manitoba's Faculty of Dentistry is holding Symposia 50, a series of special events that begins with Traditions of Excellence in Oral Research, April 25 at the university's Bannatyne campus.

World renowned researchers will appear at the day-long event that will also feature the Art in Science touring exhibit.

"The University of Manitoba has a long and rich history of excellence in oral research," said Dr. Anthony M. Iacopino, Dean of Dentistry. "In fact, the field of oral biology was created right here at our school and has since become a universal standard of dental education in North America."
