Fence hurts woman, 96
A 96-year-old woman who was visiting her brother at Victoria General Hospital was injured Tuesday afternoon when part of a construction site fence fell on her near the hospital's entrance.
"She's in stable condition (in hospital)," said Heidi Graham, a spokeswoman for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
She said she could not release details of the woman's injuries for privacy reasons.
The hospital is undergoing a multimillion-dollar expansion and renovation.
Graham said the fence has been secured so that "the incident doesn't happen again."
She said the WRHA is also looking at the possibility of having an alternate drop-off area at the hospital.

Tuesday night, at about 8 p.m., RCMP were again notified by a local resident about a suspicious vehicle with two occupants.
RCMP located the vehicle and found in it the brother and girlfriend of the Portuguese man they'd arrested earlier: Oscar Antonio Soares Cardosa, 37, a Portuguese citizen, and Sara Lima Ferreira DaSilva, 46, of Toronto. The two were arrested.
