The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held its 21st annual A Starry Starry Night Gala last Saturday evening at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.
The spectacular evening acknowledged Great-West Life and employee volunteers for their incredible support of the foundation over the years. They've been involved for 20 years, helping raise more than $75,000.
Community leaders Els and Kevin Kavanagh, in the Nonsuch Gallery, were guests of honour at the Manitoba Museum's tribute dinner this past week.
Dedicated to finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications, the foundation organizes events like these to help bring the goal one step closer.

MacDonald Youth Services held its gala dinner, Under The Big Top, in support of its Vehicle for Exchange program and Youth Emergency Shelter on Thursday.

Guests were greeted on the mezzanine level of the Hotel Fort Garry by jugglers, magicians and cotton candy for this big-top-style event.
Special guest George Sigurdson was the 2008 recipient of the Sir Hugh John MacDonald Memorial Award.
Community leaders feted
The Manitoba Museum's annual tribute dinner was held Thursday at the museum to honour Els and Kevin Kavanagh.
Guests toured the museum, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres served before dinner, and Els and Kevin greeted their guests in the Nonsuch Gallery.
The evening paid tribute to the couple's accomplishments, as these community leaders have dedicated their skills and energy to make the community a better place.
