Thompson teacher faces new charges

A former Thompson teacher accused earlier this year of an inappropriate relationship with a teenaged student is facing more criminal charges.

The RCMP said they've laid charges of possessing, producing and distributing child pornography against David John Boyce.

Boyce, 57, was first arrested in late March and charged with sexual exploitation stemming from an alleged relationship with a 16-year-old female student while he was a teacher at R.D. Parker Collegiate.

Boyce was initially placed on leave by the school division but he subsequently resigned.

RCMP said Boyce was re-arrested Friday as a result of an ongoing investigation. He has been released on a recognizance with conditions. He is scheduled to make an appearance in Thompson provincial court on Jan. 18 on the new charges.
