Trust funds set up for kids

WHEN Samantha Schlichting of Lorette lost her life in a car crash on the Perimeter Highway on Sept. 9, two children were left without their mother.

Trust funds have been established at two separate banks for 23-month-old Wyatt and four-month-old Cheyenne, the kids of Schlichting, 21, a Lorette resident.

"It's been overwhelming," said Samantha's mother, Margaret. "The amount of people at the funeral, the amount of cards that we've received. People have been giving diapers and formula, all of that stuff."

The Royal Bank has set up one trust fund for the children available at all Winnipeg branches, while another has been established at the Starbuck Credit Union (P.O. Box 117, Starbuck, R0G 2P0).

Schlichting died after a two-vehicle crash near St. Anne's Road. A friend, 23, suffered severe injuries and remains in hospital.

She didn't have life insurance.

David Delisle, 49, faces numerous criminal charges.
