Sex assault investigated

WINNIPEGOSIS RCMP are investigating a complaint of a sexual assault on a 15-year-old boy on Pine Creek First Nation Monday afternoon.

Cpl. Miles Hiebert said the boy told police that while he was walking home, an unknown male in a newer black Ford Mustang pulled up alongside him, opened the window and spoke to him.

During their conversation, Hiebert said, the driver made a sexually suggestive comment and reached out of the car and grabbed the boy.

"The boy was able to pull away and the driver fled the scene. There was no one else in the vehicle," said Hiebert.

The driver is described as Caucasian, heavy set, with black shaggy hair, five o'clock shadow and a wrinkled face. He was wearing a brown leather jacket and torn blue jeans. No further description of the vehicle is available other than a black Ford Mustang.

Weather slows mail

COLD weather continued to plague mail delivery Tuesday, leaving 12,000 Winnipeg homes without delivery.

Canada Post said normal delivery should resume today and that anyone who did not get delivery Monday should have been caught up Tuesday.

"Our employees on the street are coping with the extreme cold and doing their best to deliver," said John Caines of Canada Post's national media relations.

Homicide case probed

RCMP say no new details emerged Tuesday on two bodies found in Ethelbert under suspicious circumstances.

Autopsies had been scheduled Monday.

A woman in her 70s was found dead in her home Saturday and her adult nephew's whereabouts were unknown.

The body of a man was found on the property Monday, but police have not released the names of either person.

Suspect turns himself in

A suspect in a Saturday morning beating that left a North End man in critical condition has turned himself in to police.

Shawn Patrick McDougall, 20, has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held in custody.

Police went to a home in the 500 block of College Avenue just after 10 a.m. Saturday, where they found a 25-year-old man with serious upper-body injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Police said the investigation found there had been a drinking party at the home.

The partiers fell asleep, including the victim, who was then attacked by one of the other partiers.

Police said the suspect turned himself in to police Monday.

They said they are not aware of the motive for the beating.

Search on for teenage girl

PORTAGE la Prairie RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating 16-year-old Wynonna Joy Paul, last seen at her residence in Portage la Prairie Jan. 17.

She is described as 5-foot-5 and about 130 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes and a medium build.

It is believed Wynonna may be in the Winnipeg area, said Const. Shannon Neff.

Paul is considered an "at-risk" youth, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Wynonna is asked to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445 or their local police agency.
