Two charged after pot bust at St. James Street business

WINNIPEG police have wrapped up a lengthy investigation with two arrests and a bust of a mammoth marijuana grow-op worth close to $1 million.

The drug squad seized 854 pot plants under cultivation in a commercial property, police said Friday.

The grow-op was housed in a building in the 1700 block of St. James Street.

One man was arrested at the scene of the raid two days ago. Then, a woman was taken into custody. They were charged with trafficking and drug possession. Both will appear in court at a later date.

Police estimate the seizure was worth $956,000 in marijuana and another $16,000 in equipment.

Frederick Gordon Peters and Jane Peters face drug charges.
