Underwear tour here, briefly

Two men from Calgary on a cross-country charitable trek made a brief stop in Winnipeg this week -- they delivered 3,000 pairs of men's underwear to an inner-city shelter.

Brent King, 42, and Robb Price, 32 are driving across Canada in an RV, delivering a total of 30,000 pairs of men's underwear to homeless shelters in 10 cities in 16 days.

"I've always given to charitable causes but a couple of years ago I wanted to challenge myself to solve problems rather than just throw cash at them," said King, who launched his GotGinch tour last spring.

King, a Calgary businessman and inventor, said it was a conversation with a shelter worker in his hometown that inspired the cross-country tour.

King said he fund-raised on his own enough money last year to buy 25,000 pair of men's underwear and distributed them to 10 shelters across the country.

This spring, he raised $30,000 to distribute 30,000 pair of underwear -- 3,000 each to a homeless shelter in 10 communities, including Winnipeg.

Friday morning, the two men dropped off 3,000 pairs of underwear at Siloam Mission.
