Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg is looking for Big Brothers to join our male mentorship programs. We forge matches based on the strengths and shared interests of the adult and child. The commitment is a few hours a week, three to four times/month. Must provide current criminal record check. Information: 204-988-9200 or main@bigwinnipeg.com.

LiteracyWorks needs volunteer board members, especially if you've had experience with fundraising or experience on other boards. Information: Litworks.ca or Gary Gary.Babiuk@ad.umanitoba.ca.

Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba is looking for friendly and personable volunteers who are comfortable making outbound phone calls to an existing volunteer database. Information: Jennifer 204-949-2041 or jkaufman@heartandstroke.mb.ca.

Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteer facilitators to deliver a money management course to future homeowners. Facilitators will educate future homeowners in all aspects of financial responsibility including: budgeting, goal setting, banking, credit, debt management. Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba needs volunteers to work one on one with children on basic literacy skills (based on a prescribed lesson plan). Information: Shaunna 204-774-1821 ext. 17 or ldamanitoba@mymts.net.

Marlene Street Resource Centre, in St. Vital, requires a volunteer to help unload food from a truck, organize food into hampers, clean up, hand out hampers to 30 families. They also need a boys' club volunteer to help set up, facilitate boys' weekly activities, organize snack, support individual boys attending the program, and supervise boys ages 7-12. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is looking for retired persons to prepare simple income tax and benefit returns. Volunteers should have basic computer literacy. No prior experience is necessary -- Canada Revenue Agency provides training for all volunteers. We ask for one shift per week, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., starting Feb. 26-April 30.
