Child-care help needed for 2.5 hours every second Monday starting Jan. 14 for mothers of preschoolers in Niverville. Volunteers will meet 9:15-11:45 a.m., Niverville Community Fellowship. Information: Ashley ashhayward@shaw.ca .

The International Association of Business Communicators is looking for a director of administration to sit on the board of directors. Manage the administrative tasks and work with other board members to support the growth and development of members and the profession. Information: Kristel: iabcmanitoba@gmail.com .

Beacon Hill Lodge needs volunteers to act as friendly visitors to visit one on one with residents. Go for coffee, walks around the neighbourhood, read the paper or play Scrabble. The Community Education Development Association is looking for volunteer tutors to assist inner-city youth with homework, particularly in the areas of math and science. Literacy tutors are also needed. Volunteers must be comfortable working on basic literacy skills and English as an Additional Language (EAL) students. Proficiency in multiple languages is an asset. A&O Entry Program for Older Adult Immigrants requires a culturally sensitive volunteer, who enjoys working with older adults to facilitate conversation circles for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. Duties will include using available resource kits to initiate and stimulate conversations within small groups of 12-15 people. N.E.E.D.S. Center (Newcomers Employment & Education Development Services) is looking for volunteer mentors. Mentors connect newcomer youth (ages 6-18) to the community and engage them in educational and recreational activities. Six hours per month for one year is necessary. University of Manitoba, Adult EAL (English as an additional language) program requires volunteers to help adult newcomers who are learning English. Volunteers needed at 294 William Ave., at Princess Street, Wednesdays, 12:20-1:20 p.m. to be lunchtime chat facilitators. Winnipeg School Division Adult EAL (English as an additional language) program requires volunteers to help adult newcomers who are learning English. Volunteers assist right in classrooms and help in a variety of ways. Volunteers work under the direction of the classroom teacher.
