A & O: Support Services for Older Adults is seeking visitors for: Older adult female in Transcona looking for a female visitor to converse, play cards or go for coffee; Older adult female in Wolseley area would like someone to play Canasta with (female preferred); Older adult female in Westwood looking for female to go out for coffee; Older adult male in River Heights seeks a female visitor for conversation in Tagalog; Older adult female in Garden City is seeking a visitor for conversation in Italian. Pembina Active Living (55+) is seeking a person to co-ordinate the recruitment and placement of volunteers. Must have strong organizational skills, be able to use a computer and have an enthusiastic attitude. Information: mbuchanan484@gmail.com.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for Sun Crew volunteers who are available on Saturdays and/or Sundays during July and August to hand out sun umbrellas, sunscreen, UV bracelets and provide sun safety information at Birds Hill Beach. Information: SunSense@mb.cancer.ca or 204-784-7049.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society needs youths for its Summer Spirit Crew to attend fairs, special events, beaches and play camps throughout the Westman Region during July and August. Volunteers will promote the Canadian Cancer Society. Information: tnicholson@mb.cancer.ca.

 

Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue is seeking people to assist with their Adoption Fair fundraisers. Must be organized, creative, have good customer-service skills and be able to work well within a team environment. Information: nschneider@manitobamutts.org or http://www.manitobamutts.org/.

 

Muscular Dystrophy Canada is recruiting volunteers to help at information booths in Safeway stores Aug. 9 and 10. Spend a few hours handing out information about Muscular Dystrophy Canada and assist store staff with fundraising activities. Every volunteer receives a voucher for a free lunch from Safeway and a T-shirt. Information: marie.sereneo@muscle.ca.

 

Convalescent Home of Winnipeg needs assistance in providing activities for residents: visits, bingo, games, movie nights, sing-a-longs, etc. Call Shawna at 204-453-4663 ext. 205.
