Weapons, drug charges laid

A 29-year-old Winnipeg man is facing numerous weapons and drug charges after police raided a home in the 2200 block of Gallagher Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

Sheldon Lee West was arrested after police seized two modified shotguns, a modified rifle, numerous rounds of ammunition and magazines, bear spray, two machetes, marijuana with a street value of $320, cash and assorted drug paraphernalia. West was arrested at 2:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Logan Avenue.

The investigation was a joint effort of District 3 police, the street crime unit, the tactical support team, the canine unit, crisis negotiators and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team.

West remains in custody.
