What the new premier's been doing...

Oct. 19 -- Greg Selinger is sworn in as Manitoba's 21st premier.

Oct. 20 -- Meets with U.S. ambassador to Canada David Jacobson in Winnipeg.

Oct. 21 -- The province asks Manitoba's auditor general to speed up an investigation into allegations that Manitoba Hydro lost $1.1 billion in the last several years and might face blackouts.

Nov. 3 -- Selinger shuffles all but four members of his cabinet and adds three new faces: Jennifer Howard in labour and immigration; Flor Marcelino in culture, heritage and tourism; and Bill Blaikie in conservation.

Nov. 18 -- The Selinger government announces the House will resume sitting Nov. 30 for 10 days. It would be forced to extend the session to 12.

Nov. 30 -- Speech from the throne contains few surprises. Highlight is commitment to help Winnipeg buy a police helicopter.

Dec. 2 -- Selinger announces a $31-million contribution toward the International Polar Bear Conservation Centre that will include an enclosure and education facility at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Dec. 8 -- Selinger visits Pine Falls, where workers at the Tembec paper mill have been locked out for 99 days. Opposition politicians say he should have been involved sooner.

Dec. 10 -- A joking reference about a Hydro whistleblower during his first state of the province captures headlines -- and criticism from the Opposition.

Dec. 13 -- Selinger leads a contingent of Manitoba officials to the international climate-change summit in Copenhagen.

Dec. 15 -- A Probe Research/Winnipeg Free Press poll shows NDP support among Manitobans hasn't skipped a beat with Selinger in charge.

Dec. 22 -- The government says it's on track to post a $592-million deficit for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Originally it projected a $48-million surplus.

Dec. 29 -- Selinger announces that cabinet ministers will forgo a $1,000 raise due to take effect in April as part of government belt-tightening.

Jan. 6 -- The premier takes a turn carrying the Olympic torch in Gimli.

Jan. 13-15 -- Participates in CentrePort delegation stops in Chicago and Memphis.
