Are you an e-reader?

I'VE never been a fan of the electronic readers, a.k.a. e-readers. Why? I like books; I like the satisfaction of closing a book once you've finished and I just physically enjoy having a collection of them. E-Reader fanatics make the claim that having one is so much easier because you can't take thousands of books with you everywhere you go... therefore they are great for travelling. But ask yourself, do you really read more than one book on a trip? I'm sure there are people who would read more than one book on a trip -- would you? Is reasonable for you to spend $70-200 on the device, which doesn't come with any books, then have to buy books on the readers' native marketplace for somewhat of a discounted price? I personally think not; maybe I'm just a guy who likes collecting books. The reason I broach this topic is that I read a technology envy-related infographic and it mentioned that 42 per cent of people in the marketplace are envious of people at their job who have an e-reader. New iPhone 5 image surfaces; the real deal?

THE prominent tech rumour website Mac Rumors and a user known as "guigsh" posted an image of the alleged iPhone 5. The explanation is "picture taken yesterday in the office of a French operator. Believe it or not." (Mac Rumors). From what I can tell, the image shows a thinner and more ergonomically shaped iPhone 5. Another comment made by the user was that "the only thing I can tell you, is that my iPhone 4 looks really slow now." This essentially tells us that this new version of Apple phone is much faster than the current 4S. Now is this image real? Well, from piecing together all the rumours, it does match up with some of the leaked iPhone 5 case designs. Another fishy thing about this picture is that no photos would've been allowed and somehow the photo taker had the opportunity to hold up a white piece of paper behind the phone to help better the contrast. This is the closest image I've seen to what I believe is the real deal. I'll keep you updated.

Best smartphone to pick for a Winnipegger

NOW realize that this opinion is completely my own: There is really no way to rank how good a smartphone is -- it's just complete and utter personal preference. When you're looking at smartphones, I would categorize the three major brands: BlackBerry, Apple and Android. BlackBerry is categorized as businesslike, Apple is regarded as fun and Android is urban. I think these stereotypes can be misleading. Apple and Android are great business tools in addition to being fun and intuitive devices. In my mind, I cut BlackBerry off the list as I think their devices aren't that competitive anymore. It has has been explained to me that Android is a better phone, but the iPhone is a better gadget. I couldn't agree more with that statement. Now for us Peg City people, those two brands offer us two hot devices: the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S II. If you compare the two spec for spec, the Galaxy S would win. On paper, the Galaxy S is the better phone, but there is such an aura around the iPhone, and well, I'm a Mac guy so I'd have to agree. The iPhone does have great features -- iTunes, Apple Mail etc.; but the Galaxy S has so many customizable options.

So right now, if I had to go buy a new smartphone I'd go with the Android. I think they are gaining traction and a lot more teens and even business users are choosing that as their go-to gadget. I personally still use the iPhone, but it took a tumble and my screen is cracked so I'm thinking about switching to an Android.
