This time, the flood won

AMONG the effects of that big storm was interruption of the filming schedule for Noah, a Darren Aronofsky movie about the real flood, the one in the Bible.

The L.A. Times reports that the "ark" being used in the film, 137 metres long, was never intended to be seaworthy. It has been docked at Oyster Bay on Long Island and may have been wrecked by the flooding. Paramount isn't saying.

Newsday reports Emma Watson, who stars with Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins, sent a tweet indicating a certain amusement: "I take it that the irony of a massive storm holding up the production of Noah is not lost."

And some Dull Normal Tweeter joked that the movie had become a reality show.

It's is scheduled for 2014 release.

Not so swift, perhaps

SPOTLIGHT couple: The Mirror, in England, says Taylor Swift, moving on briskly from Conor Kennedy, is dating a British singer/songwriter called Ed Sheeran.

He'll be opening for her on tour next year, so it will be messy when this one breaks up.

He's 21. She's 22.

ESQUIRE mag has deemed model Miranda Kerr the sexiest woman alive.

Well, she's certainly not the least sexy, I guess. But I always marvel at these silly pronouncements. Who do they think they're kidding? Checked out all the women everywhere, did they? What a brain-dead bit of self-promotion that kind of claim is.

Quote of the day: as part of that "sexiest woman" hoopla, Kerr did an interview, in which she told Esquire how she grew up as a farm-girl tomboy, and is still outdoorsy:

"I really feel that my body craves to be in the mountains or by the ocean or in the countryside. I still like to climb the odd tree. Yeah, it's fun! I like to climb. I find it very rewarding. You feel like you're going somewhere."

She's 29.

WHEN George Clooney calls, people pick up: Deadline Hollywood reports an impressive lineup of talent has come running when Clooney invited them to take part in his new movie The Monuments Men.

Bill Murray, Daniel Craig, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin of The Artist, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville of Downton Abbey, and veteran character actor Bob Balaban are all on board or in talks to take part. More names may follow.

George has a writing credit on this movie, and will direct and star. It's about British and American experts in the late 1940s, recovering artworks stolen by the Nazis.

Shooting starts March 1, in Europe.

Ready for the Zomney walk?

ARE the Democrats in the great republic to the south getting desperate?

Now Joss Whedon, the scriptwriter (The Avengers), show-runner (Buffy the Vampire), cameo actor, and self-promoter, has made a video message warning that if Mitt Romney is elected, the zombie apocalypse is sure to follow:

"The one per cent won't be the very rich. It will be the very fast," he says. "The Zomneys will come for all of us." He's 48.

Bonding time... with

a beer

Product placement report: I saw Skyfall, and there is, indeed, a scene where James Bond drinks a Heineken. And, you know, it was OK.

I thought the, err, heavens would collapse, but in the scene in question a martini would have been out of place. (Later in the movie he has one of those, shaken not stirred.)

I was feeling OK about this until it dawned on me that maybe the whole scene with the beer was superfluous, inserted only to... nahhh. They wouldn't. Would they?

Will work for goop

DREW Barrymore's five-year contract to shill for Cover Girl makeup expires in January. Shortly thereafter, WWD reports, she'll launch her own cosmetics line, possibly in an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart.

Also involved: an Italian company called Intercos that actually produces these goops. Hey, somebody's got to do the work. She's 37.
