Here comes the bride

Today is the Wonderful Wedding Show! If you're planning nuptials -- or even just dreaming of a perfect wedding -- head over to the Winnipeg Convention Centre today from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and check out the hundreds of displays of cakes, invitations, dresses and basically anything you can imagine at a wedding. Tickets are $13, and are available from Ticketmaster.

See-through art

Today at 3 p.m. marks the opening of the art installation, Surviving Subtletly: Archi-scapes Glimpsed Through a Literal Window, at Prairie Ink Restaurant in McNally Robinson Booksellers. The series features a set of mouthblown-glass windows designed by local artist koval. While you're there, you can also enjoy a snack at the restaurant and then browse through the books.

Go on a winter adventure

Head on over to The Forks for some quality winter fun. Today starts their free Sunday programs, including horse-drawn wagon rides, teepee story-telling, and snowboarding instruction. Definitely a great and affordable way to spend a day with the family. At The Forks, starting at 1:30 p.m., with events running until around 4 p.m. A more detailed schedule is on www.theforks.com.

Imax while you can

Although it will soon be closing, the Imax at Portage Place is still open for now. So it's clearly the time for you to go and experience some movies in Imax Experience before it is no longer a staple in our downtown. Today Skyfall: The Imax Experience plays at 1:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Greece: Secrets of the Past plays at 12 p.m. Whether you want to see a British spy or a archeological journey, the massive screen will wow you either way.

View a chilling doc

The Invisible War, directed by Oscar- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick, is playing at the Cinematheque tonight. The audience award winner at Sundance, this investigative documentary touches on a sensitive subject -- rape in the U.S. military. The film gives the viewer a disturbing yet eye-opening account of the extent of the problem. At 7 p.m. tonight.

SondheimFest it up

Later in the week, you should definitely find a day or two to check out SondheimFest, where MTC honours playwright Stephen Sondheim and invites other local theatre companies to present his work. There are more than 12 plays and musicals that are involved with SondheimFest, and more than 30 showings this week. Go to www.masterplaywrightfest.com and pick out some plays! The festival runs until Feb 3.

See entertaining Assassins

This week, Assassins begins its run at the Tom Hendry Theatre Warehouse. This play, presented by MTC for SondheimFest, is a comedic musical that takes the viewer through a series of individuals who set out to assassinate the president of the United States. You'll see John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald tell you their woes during surreal musical numbers. Don't miss it. Playing until Feb 2, and tickets are available at www.mtc.mb.ca.
