Your Weekend Weather

Because we are The Weather Column That Cares, today we are going to present your weekend forecast in the educational and entertaining Q&A format, starting with...

Q: What's with all the empty champagne bottles?

A: Huh? Oh, yeah... we were... um... celebrating.

Q: Celebrating what? A: The fact we just shattered a 134-year-old record by enjoying the warmest March in the city's history.

Q: Do you have any fascinating stats to back that up? A: Yes. As of Friday, our average daily March temperature was 1.8 C and my buddy Dale Marciski from Environment Canada says that's going to creep up today, when we'll see a mix of sun and clouds and a heavenly month-ending high of 16 C, up from the normal high of 5 C. The previous record came in 1878 when the average temperature was 1.6 C.

Q: But didn't March come in like a lion? A: Yes, an old, tired lion, but still a lion. On March 2, for example, we had 12 centimetres of snow, the biggest single dump all winter.

Q: So, it's going out like a lamb?

A: Well, according to Dale: "It's going to be a very nice day today. I think it's very lamb-like, a nice, soft lamb with sunshine, warm temperatures and not too windy." Also, Sunday should be sunny with a high of 12 C, and the rest of the week will be above normal with zero rain in the forecast.

Q: What do you want us to do to celebrate this March to end all Marches? A: I think you should visit the second floor of the Millennium Library today from 1 p.m.. to 4:30 p.m. for Books2Eat, part of a worldwide festival wherein book lovers and foodies whip up edible pieces of art inspired by books. I'll be there judging the culinary/literary masterpieces.

Q: What about the 38th annual Home Expressions Home & Garden Show at the convention centre featuring the best and newest in kitchens, baths, interior design, appliance, electronics, home furnishings, lifestyle products, fashion, living green and more?

A: Yes, you should go. Ditto for the Festival of Fools at The Forks, which ends today.

Q: In a word, how would you, a weather expert, sum up our history-making lamb-like March? A: Baaaaaaaaaaaa!
